On June 29, 2017, CSR Europe hosted its first SDG Incubator workshop on business-led collaboration for refugees and migrants, in the context of our European Business Platform for action towards the UN Sustainable Development Goals,
The workshop saw a variety of participants from the public, private and civil society sectors, including companies like Canon, Bridgestone Europe, Coca-Cola Hellas, Engie, Hellenic Petroleum, IBM, McCain, Microsoft, Randstad, Titan and Vattenfall.
CSR Europe’s Executive Director, Stefan Crets stated that despite the wide variety of initiatives, “efforts to address the crisis are undertaken primarily by separate organisational entities and not up-scaled across organisations and countries. This inherently limits the possible impact of such engagement.”
Agnese Papadia, Directorate General for Migration and Home Affairs at the European Commission, provided input into the integration of third country nationals’ challenges and priorities from an EU perspective. In addition, she presented the Commission’s Initiative Employers Together for Integration and the Commission’s upcoming funding opportunities under the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF) and the European Social Fund (ESF).
In response to these opportunities, CSR Europe will develop a joint project to generate further impact. Companies who want to join and benefit from a collaborate approach can contact Franzis Wimmer (FW@csreurope.org).
