ASEM Meeting: Asian, European leaders discuss global challenges

The 12th Asia-Europe Meeting summit gathered 51 European and Asian countries to strengthen cooperation, and devise solutions on climate change, migration, and digitalisation.

Sustainability has been one of the key areas discussed during the meeting among 51 European and Asian leaders, which took place in Brussels between 18th and 19th October. The participating countries agreed on the need of boosting the economic relations between the regions, giving special attention to the preservation of the environment and other global challenges.

The attendees of the summit have recognized the need for collaborative approach to tackle the most pressing challenges affecting the world. They underlined the urgency for an immediate action to adapt and mitigate climate change, affirming their total commitment to the provisions of the Paris Agreement. The meeting served as platform enabling the leaders of both continents to renew their commitments towards the implementation of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and ensure environmental protection.
