CSR Europe's Governmental Affairs meeting on January 31, was an opportunity for the members to hear about the next steps with the EU Multi-Stakeholder Platform on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and about other EU activities and policy initiatives.
In 2017, CSR Europe was appointed as one of the members of the new European Multi-Stakeholder Platform on the SDGs, chaired by European Commission’s First-Vice President Frans Timmermans. The first High-Level meeting of the Platform took place on January 10, 2018, where all the platform members received a targeted consultation.
At the Governmental Affairs meeting CSR Europe members were updated on the High-Level meeting, and on the CSR Europe’s position to the consultation. CSR Europe is now collecting feedback on the position from our members until February 14.
Two representatives from the European Commission also attended the meeting. Saïd El Khadraoui, Adviser at European Political Strategy Centre, presented research results on European sustainability challenges and opportunities, and William Neale, Policy officer in Waste Management & Secondary materials at DG Environment, provided an insight to the new European Strategy for Plastics.
For CSR Europe members, who want to be updated on the SDG Platform and the plastics strategy, CSR Europe is organising an EU update webinar on February 27. If you want to register, please send an email to Laura Natrop (firstname.lastname@example.org).
