Latvia: Responsible Business Ambassadors program, 3rd edition

43 large/medium companies, high level and middle managers have joined the "Responsible Business Ambassadors" program since 2018. "Responsible Business Ambassadors" is an eight-week program designed to cover all topics pertaining to CSR. It is a space where participants are welcome to share their experiences and learn from experts - non-governmental organizations and businesses - on how to create and improve business models.

The main topics of the course are: Personal & company values; Global risks and local challenges; company impact assessment; Business and human rights, Diversity; Business and environment; Business and ethics; Business and society, on how to support society (NGOs, funds) and business in the long term; Stakeholder communication; reporting, analyses and communication; and Business and government.

The program matches organizations with mentors who are able to elaborate on initiatives and support solution implementation in the business.  At the end of the program, participants are encouraged to create "impact projects" that can bring change in a company, society or any other related field to contribute to business sustainability. So far, 21 impact project ideas have been implemented related to employee’s well-being, environmental issues, reporting and communication with stakeholders. The aim is to encourage each other to work together towards the triple bottom line: people, planet, profit.

The program was created by Agnese Alksne, co-founder of CSR Latvia and fellow of the US government's community leaders’ program "Community Solutions". The CSR Latvia "Responsible Business Ambassadors" program has been nominated for "European Business Promotion Award 2019" by Ministry of Economy of Republic of Latvia.
