Discover how business-education partnerships work

CSR Europe has set up a Business Impact Map (BIM) to highlight some of the inspiring partnerships and activities created under the European Pact for Youth.

The European Pact for Youth brought together leaders of Europe, business, education and youth, and created over 23,000 new quality business-education partnerships.

The BIM illustrates and gives a face to some of these partnerships and activities that over 100 Pact for Youth supporters implement throughout Europe. The aim is to provide inspiration, as well as encourage further partnerships.

Users can navigate these activities easily per country, organisation, and topic. The topics are divided in three categories: business-education partnerships, entrepreneurship education, and VET and apprenticeships.

Here are some examples of projects showcased in the BIM.

Business-education partnership – Minecraft for Education – Microsoft

Minecraft: Education Edition is an open-world game that promotes creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving in an immersive environment where the only limit is your imagination. The game brings the classroom and curriculum to students in an environment they are already comfortable with, and support for educators to deliver learning activities within the game.

To date, more than 75,000 students and educators from more than 100 countries use Minecraft: Education Edition in the classroom. The game is available in all European countries and 17 European languages

Entrepreneurship education – Bits & Bytes – IBM

The CSR department of IBM Spain, in collaboration with the non-profit Creática Association, organised Bits & Bytes sessions, events where parents and children learn together how easy and fun it can be to develop their own games and interactive stories.

Learning to program at an early age promotes the development of problem-solving skills, mathematical abstraction and logic. Introduction to programming in a context of shared leisure, also generates less gender stereotypes for girls regarding careers in technology, engineering and mathematics.

VET and apprenticeships – Alliance for YOUth – Solvay

By joining the Alliance for YOUth, Solvay committed to providing a range of job and training opportunities for young Europeans.

This engagement of the Group for youth employment lead in 2016 to hiring of 462 apprentices and 283 interns in France, 160 apprentices in Germany and 77 interns in Belgium.
