CSR Europe Welcomes the Programme of the Finnish Presidency of the EU Council
The Programme of the Finnish Presidency of the EU Council, which began in June and will cease with the new year, followed by the Croatian presidency, has been presented on July 25 to the new European Parliament by Finland’s Government Ministers.
This Presidency, even if rather short due to the institutional transition, will leave an important footprint over the incoming von der Leyen Commission. Finland’s programme is also the first one to align the Council’s work to the priorities of the Strategic Agenda 2019-2024, which served as a basis for the political guidelines for the next Commission.
The Presidency Programme, entitled “Sustainable Europe – Sustainable Future” is anchored on the vison of an economic prosperity that is both socially inclusive and environmentally sustainable. Since May 2019, CSR Europe has scaled up its efforts in promoting a similar shared vision of the future, by launching the greatest CEOs Call to Action in Europe, addressed to business, policy makers and civil society organisations.
Since May, the initial group of 100 CEOs has more than doubled, and the call will now remain open until September 30. As the new Commission will begin its mandate, it will be presented in an official ceremony in the presence of the representatives of the European Institutions.
