ArcelorMittal defines the Circular Economy and why it is important
ArcelorMittal has published an article on the circular economy that not only defines what the circular economy is but also explains how the three Rs (reduce, reuse, recycle) can be put into action.
Amongst other things, the article discusses Ellen MacArthur's defining moment that led to the creation of the Ellen MacArthur Foundation with the aim to accelerate the transition to a regenerative, circular economy.
Forming collaborative partnerships has been one of the cornerstones of ArcelorMittal's circular economy approach. General manager of ArcelorMittal, Alan Knight, emphasises the significance of collaboration for sustainability, stating, "We already share by-products like heat with local communities and use our process gases to make electricity for the national grid, but, as alluded to earlier, we are keen to do much, much more with our by-products through new partnerships."
