European Commission releases proposal for tougher transparency rules
On June 21, 2017, the European Commission released a new proposal that sets up tougher transparency rules for intermediaries (e.g. tax advisors, banks, lawyers, etc.) in order to tackle aggressive tax planning.
The proposal aims to allow tax administrations to collect more information on some schemes used by intermediaries who promote tax avoidance.
This proposal will be submitted to the European Parliament for consultation and the Council of the EU to be adopted.
