Ferrero wins Fairtrade award 2018

Ferrero has received the Fairtrade Award 2018 in the Manufacturers category for its commitment to the Fairtrade Cocoa Program and its long-term partnership with Fairtrade and cooperative union ECOOKIM.

“On behalf of Ferrero Germany, we confirm that we recognize and appreciate the expectations of our customers and consumers on the ethical quality of our raw materials. We therefore fully believe in Fairtrade’s approach. Through this cooperation, Ferrero aims to better the livelihoods of cocoa farmers and offer future perspectives. At the same time, we get closer to fulfilling our promise to use 100% sustainable cocoa for all Ferrero products by 2020.” Carlo Vassallo (Speaker of the board) and Stephan Nießner, both General Manager Ferrero Germany.

“It’s an honour to receive this award. This has been achieved through strong collaboration with our partners Fairtrade and ECOOKIM, and we consider it important evidence that we share the same approach and priorities as our stakeholders.” Aldo Uva, Chief Operating Officer of the Ferrero Group.

Ferrero’s partnership was launched in 2014 with the aim to improve the livelihoods of the cocoa farmers and their communities in the Ivory Coast. The partnership focuses on cocoa farming and community development, self-monitoring capabilities, social and sustainable development as well as strengthening transparent and long-term partnerships.
