Upcoming Leaders’ Meeting of the European Pact for Youth focuses on entrepreneurship

The third and final Leaders’ Meeting of the European Pact for Youth will take place on July 12, 2017, in which a joint policy proposal on mainstreaming entrepreneurship in learning will be presented.

Co-chaired by Viscount Etienne Davignon, President of CSR Europe and Marianne Thyssen, European Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs, Skills and Labour Mobility, the event will boast a great mix of companies, civil society organisations, and government representatives that have been working toward youth employability and inclusion across Europe. Tibor Navracsics, European Commissioner for Education, Youth, Culture and Sport, will also be speaking at the event.

Leaders of the Pact will review their individual and collective progress on the Pact for Youth targets, including the goal to create 10,000 quality business-education partnerships and to establish, together, at least 100,000 good-quality apprenticeships, traineeships or entry-level jobs. Company and partner involvement in the Pact for Youth is also documented in the newly published Progress Review from November 2015 – June 2017

Additionally, the Pact partners have prepared for this occasion the Third Joint Policy Proposal on mainstreaming entrepreneurship in formal, non-formal and informal education. The proposal looks at how companies, Member States, and EU institutions can support entrepreneurial skills-building across Europe, as well as strengthen the soft-skills needed by companies to grow and remain competitive.

At the 1st European Business-Education Summit on November 23, 2017, the three joint policy proposals, together with the results of the European Pact for Youth, will be presented and formally delivered to the EU Leaders and Heads of States.
