European Commission launches campaign on LGBTI rights

In the wake of tragic events such as the attack in Orlando last June, the EU published a new campaign to raise awareness and increase the social acceptance of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex (LGBTI) people.

This campaign is based on a 'List of actions to advance LGBTI equality’ for 2016 - 2019 to combat LGBTI discrimination, covering in a comprehensive way different policy areas such as: education, employment, health, free movement, asylum, hate speech/hate crime, enlargement and foreign policy.

To support the business sector, this new campaign also identifies the EU Platform of Diversity Charters as the main actor to raise awareness among companies on the benefits of an inclusive workplace.
