Portugal: Partnership to Support Companies with Agenda 2030 Goals

Lisbon, Portugal – In the National Year of Collaboration, GRACE – Group of Reflection and Support to Corporate Citizenship and BCSD Portugal – Business Council for Sustainable Development Portugal, established a partnership to cooperate with companies to achieve the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations.


The protocol was signed on October 1st during the Conference “SDG – Outcomes and Challenges 2030”, in Lisbon, which was the first joint venture of both corporate organizations, which had the presence of Margarida Couto - President of GRACE, João Castello Branco - President of BCSD Portugal, among other companies’ representatives such as Brisa, Eurest, Jerónimo Martins and Vodafone.


During the event, PwC presented the primary results of the Study/Report “SDG Challenge 2019 – Compreender a evolução das empresas portuguesas na abordagem aos ODS”.

“Achieving the UN Agenda 2030 is a clear obligation of all governments, companies and citizens. Raising awareness among Portuguese companies to incorporate and adopt business strategies aligned with the SDGs has been GRACE’s mission, bringing them closer to all kinds of organizations in order to create partnerships with impact. In this common gathering of efforts, the consolidation of the partnership between GRACE and BCSD Portugal acknowledges the relevance of collaboration to achieve the 2030 goals, by everyone”, stated Margarida Couto, President of GRACE.


At the conference, the SDG Masterclass, a CSR Europe initiative, was also launched. The event will be locally oriented by GRACE and BCSD Portugal for companies (members and non-members) interested in integrating the SDGs into their strategic planning. The first session is scheduled for November.
