Annual Convention for Inclusive Growth 2019 (Brussels, 20 May 2019)


The Annual Convention for Inclusive Growth is an action-oriented platform bringing together civil society organisations and policymakers to discuss how to achieve inclusive growth.

This is an opportunity for the EU to:

  • reflect on its social dimension, and on how to adapt the existing social models to current and future challenges,
  • develop long-term solutions to fight poverty, increase employment and strengthen social cohesion and inclusion for all.


This year, the Convention focuses on the future of Social Europe. The Convention will be opened by Marianne Thyssen, Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs, Skills and Labour Mobility, and by the Romanian Presidency of the Council of the EU.

Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services: a common agenda to 2020 and beyond (Brussels, May 23-24)


The European Commission, in cooperation with the European Committee of the Regions, is organising an EU “Conference on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services: a Common Agenda to 2020 and Beyond" with the objective to look back at what has been achieved by the EU, to draw on lessons learned and reflect on main challenges for the future.


The conference provides the starting point for the public consultation of the final evaluation of the EU Biodiversity Strategy to 2020.

27th EU Biomass Conference and Exhibition (Lisbon, May 27-30)


The 27th European Biomass Conference & Exhibition (EUBCE) is a premiere global event for research and development on all aspects of this dynamic energy sector, attracting over 1,500 participants from more than 65 countries.


The EUBCE Conference programme is coordinated by the Joint Research Centre. The event is supported by entities such as the European Commission, WCRE - the World Council for Renewable Energy, EUBIA - the European Biomass Industry Association, and several other organisations.


The Conference programme includes more than 800 top-class contributions received with abstracts from   +3100 authors and co-authors from 68 countries. The submitted abstracts are scored and selected by Scientific and Industry focused Committees from institutional and industrial research organisations, under the Chair of the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre.

The 12th SET Plan conference 2019 "Making the energy transition happen locally" (Bucharest, June 12-14)


The conference will be focused on the role of cities and regions in Europe’s energy transition. It will be discussed how can local and regional actors accelerate the deployment of low-carbon technologies to unlock the full benefits of Europe’s decarbonisation; what investment mechanisms can foster the market uptake of innovative eco products and services; and in which concrete ways does the EU’s SET Plan contribute to fast-tracking the energy transition in our cities and regions.


The event co-organised by the European Commission, the Presidency of the Council of the European Union and the European Committee of the Regions, with the support of the Romanian Municipalities Association and the Romanian Ministry of Energy.


Speakers include Miguel Arias Cañete, Commissioner for Energy and Climate Action; Karl-Heinz Lambertz, President of the European Committee of the Regions; Dominique Ristori, Director-General for Energy, European Commission; and Anton Anton Romanian Minister of Energy.

EU Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) 2019 (Brussels, 17-21 June 2019)


EU Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) is the biggest event dedicated to renewables and efficient energy use in Europe. It is made up of a 3-day policy conference offering various networking opportunities, an EU Sustainable Energy Awards competition with a public vote for the citizens' award and local events, Energy Days, held across Europe throughout the months of May and June.


The 14th edition of EUSEW will take place from 17 to 21 June 2019, with the policy conference running from Tuesday 18th to Thursday 20th June in Brussels. The conference will be hosted at three venues: the European Commission's Charlemagne and Berlaymont buildings, and the Residence Palace, all five minutes walking distance from one another.
