24th September 2019, Dublin, Ireland - Business in the Community Ireland (BITCI) launched its new strategic plan for 2019-2021. As the leading organisation driving the agenda for responsible business in Ireland, the three-year strategic action plan brings together the key areas of BITCI’s work and develops a coherent and integrated offering for leading businesses and programme participants.
A thorough multi-stakeholder consultation process informed the development of the Strategy. BITCI’s Action Plan is influenced by the UN Sustainable Development Goals, where business plays a fundamental role in ensuring the transition to a low carbon economy and realising meaningful social inclusion.
Tomás Sercovich, CEO Business in the Community Ireland stated, “Better Business for a Better Ireland” summarises our ambitions and our Strategic Action Plan is articulated around seven key objectives. We believe business can be a powerful agent for change and we are delighted to launch our new plan encompassing our ambitions for us and our member companies”.
The seven key objectives outlined in the plan are:

- BITCI’s Business Working Responsibly Mark drives sustainable business
- CEO-led collective action on sustainable development
- Business delivering meaningful social inclusion
- A leadership voice and strategic partnerships to amplify our impact
- An entrepreneurial values-driven organisation
- Operational excellence
A number of stakeholders were consulted in the development of the plan including BITCI’s members, non-member companies, government funders, other state agencies, business associations and civil society organisations. Further details of the plan and progress made so far will be outlined at BITCI’s largest event of the year, its annual CEO Breakfast Forum which takes place 13th November in Dublin.
