Tackling the cobalt issue with impact

On November 30, 2016, CSR Europe organised a business roundtable in Brussels on ‘Tackling the cobalt issue with impact’.

The event saw companies from the automotive, electronics, telecom, chemical, cobalt processors, mining and tyre manufacturers sectors come together with international organisations like the OECD to raise more awareness and understanding and to discuss how to address the current situation in artisanal and large-scale cobalt mining in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC)

During the meeting the participants discussed individual and joint actions including due diligence, transparency enhancement and capacity building. The participants also explored how collaboration could increase the impact of their own activities that are currently running in DRC.

This will be further discussed on January 26 at the European Responsible Business Outreach meeting hosted by the Electronic Industry Citizenship Coalition (EICC) and CSR Europe.
