The Netherlands: Future-Proof Coffee Collective

What is the real price of coffee if you were to include all costs that are now NOT included, such as water use, pollution, social injustice, loss of biodiversity?

MVO Nederland debates the need for change in the coffee sector: Small companies on both sides of the value chain are struggling to keep their heads up and are unable to really invest in sustainable production, while big players are calling the shots.

They formed a coalition of more than 20 coffee companies and expert organisations that are working together to bring the true price of coffee out in the open. This is what they do: they create an open source method to show what the true price of coffee is. They calculate the true price of their own coffees and then they take action to reduce the true costs (and measure the effects). Like this, they start paying the true costs of the coffee.

All coffee lovers, roasters, importers, buyers: get involved!
